The Human Resources Division is responsible
for all matters relating to the efficient operation of the personnel
system and risk management, including recruitment, testing and certifying
of applicants for initial employment; promotional examinations;
maintenance of the classification and compensation plans; employee
orientation and training; coordination of the employee safety program;
administration of matters regarding employer/employee relations;
administration of the city's affirmative action plan; maintenance
of the central personnel records; administration of the employee
health benefit plan, workers compensation, liability claims and
special projects as assigned.
MISCELLANEOUS
Group medical, dental, life and vision insurance is paid for employees,
the city will pay a portion of dependent coverage costs if the employee
is enrolled in the dependent plan. All full-time employees become
members of the California Public Employee's Retirement system (PERS).
The employee pays all of the 8 per cent employee PERS contribution. for miscellaneous employees. Fire and Police Sworn personnel pay the 9 percent employee PERS contribution with the exception of Police non-management employees in which case the city pays all of the 9 percent employee contribution. Twelve days sick leave per year, 10 working days vacation per year initially and 13 holidays are granted to each employee.

include additional management leave based on classification; vacation
buy-back each fiscal year; life insurance based on salary range.
